Territory & Economy

Every block in the city is a potential asset. Your goal is to systematically convert neutral and rival blocks into your own passive income engine.

Establishing a Foothold

When you first enter the city, your resources are limited. Your immediate goal is to establish a foothold by taking a low-defense territory and its businesses, such as a Corner Store, Barbershop, or Laundromat.

  1. Locate a Target: Check your minimap for grey (unowned) or weakly defended rival blocks.
  2. Clear the Block: Eliminate hostile gang members currently holding it.
  3. Hold the Line: Remain in the capture area while the hold timer fills. If the assault is abandoned, progress can decay.

Building Your Economy

Every business you capture generates income that is paid automatically through economy ticks. You need this income to hire crew members, upgrade your weapons, and cover ongoing crew upkeep.

  • Low-Tier (Corner Stores, Laundromats): The lowest purchase price, with a small but steady income. Perfect for establishing your initial cash flow.
  • Mid-Tier (Chop Shops, Nightclubs): Higher purchase prices, with stronger income. These should be your mid-game targets to sustain a growing crew.
  • High-Tier (Casinos, Warehouses): The highest purchase prices, with the largest business income. Highly contested in multiplayer.

Economic Collapse

If crew upkeep exceeds business income, your net income is negative and your cash reserves decline. Keep expansion and payroll sustainable. If you hit zero, you will lose the ability to deploy forces effectively until you balance the books.

Strategic Decisions & Related Intel

Do not overextend. Capturing a block is only half the battle; defending it is the other. Always balance your expansion with garrisoned crew to ensure your borders remain intact.

How to Choose the Next Block

Compare three costs before moving: what the target earns, how exposed it will be after the capture, and which current block must be left with fewer defenders. A modest business beside two owned blocks can be safer and more useful than an isolated premium property. Connected territory also shortens the distance between your escorts, garrisons, and the next fight.

When cash is tight, pause expansion for an economy tick and check net income after upkeep. When cash is healthy but the border is thin, hire for defense before buying another business. District and strategic-property modifiers can change that calculation, so use the Districts & Properties guide before committing to an expensive route.

Editorial note: The Gang Takeover development team writes and checks these guides against the same shared gameplay catalog used by solo and multiplayer. Strategy recommendations are first-party editorial guidance, not paid placements. Multiplayer outcomes still depend on the other crews in the room, and balance can change as the game evolves.
